Product Evaluations - Technology

More than two decades ago, Air Quality Sciences (AQS) pioneered commercial environmental chamber technology (ECTTM) used for product emissions testing.

Our headquarters are home to the largest environmental chamber test facility in the world, featuring more than 60 dynamic, stainless steel chambers ranging in size from 0.05 cubic meters (m3) to 32 m3.  We designed our chambers to simulate a controlled, yet realistic, indoor environment. Our state-of-the-art technology detects and measures a product’s VOC emissions, formaldehyde emissions, respirable particles, ozone, allergens and other pollutants of concern (including microorganisms, neurotoxins, and carcinogens) down to the parts per billion (ppb) or nanogram (ng).  In addition, our consumer chamber is equipped to study ozone emissions for air cleaners according to CARB’s new ruling and to evaluate consumer products’ ability to remove allergens from the air. To ensure test accuracy, we even strip the supply air to the chamber of any pre-existing VOCs, particles and other pollutants.  All chambers meet requirements established by U.S. EPA, ASTM and international ISO guidelines.
