Marilyn S. Black, PhD and LEED AP Chairman and Founder
Marilyn Black, founder and CEO of Air Quality Sciences, is a global expert on indoor air pollution and pollutant sources. With more than 25 years of experience, she has directed numerous research studies on indoor air pollution and its effects on human health; mold growth in buildings; and the impact of furnishings, construction materials; and electronic equipment on indoor pollutant levels. Marilyn wrote the State of Washington indoor air quality standards for new construction; established emissions test protocols for carpet, flooring and furniture products; and founded the GREENGUARD Certification programs for the selection of environmentally-preferred, low-emitting products. Marilyn holds a Ph.D., a master’s degree, and bachelor’s degree in chemistry and environmental health. She is also a LEED Accredited Professional. Marilyn frequently presents training seminars on indoor air quality at CSI, EnvironDesign, NEOCON, Greenbuild and AIA's National Convention, and she serves on government and public health committees charged with the protection of human health. Marilyn and AQS are recipients of numerous industry and community awards, including National IAQ Company of the Year; National IAQ Research Award; Most Innovative Technology Award for Georgia; and Ford Motor Company's Public Service Award. Marilyn was most recently recognized as a National Environmental Champion by EnviroDesign Journal. |

Anthony G. Worthan, MPH President and Chief Operating Officer
Anthony (Tony) Worthan serves as President and Chief Operating Officer of Air Quality Sciences. Tony oversees all company operations, including business development, financial and strategic planning. He began his career with AQS in 1991, serving in a variety of capacities from technical to account management to field consulting to process improvement. He was eventually promoted to quality manager and, later, to Vice President of Operations. He was named President in 2001. Tony is an expert on emissions from interior furnishings, construction materials and other consumer products, as well as the impact of emissions on human health. He holds a master’s degree in Public Health in Environmental and Occupational Health and a Management Development post-graduate degree. He is active in a number of organizations, including the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH), the American Public Health Association (APHA), and the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). He has also served on committees focused on protecting public health, including the Indoor Environmental Quality Committee and Tuberculosis Task Force of the AIHA. |

Rodney L. Milligan Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Rodney Milligan serves as Chief Financial Officer for Air Quality Sciences. He joined AQS in January 1996. Rodney is responsible for supervising all financial, human resources and administrative matters of the Company. Rodney was instrumental in relocating AQS to its current state-of-the-art laboratory and office facilities ― and in achieving LEED CI Gold certification of the new space. Prior to joining AQS, Rodney held similar positions with telecommunications and software development companies. Rodney holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting, and previously worked for the international firm Coopers & Lybrand, as well as a Georgia-based accounting firm. Rodney is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Georgia, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants (GSCPA). |

Hall Brodie, PE President, AQS Building Consulting, Inc.
Hall Brodie serves as President of AQS Building Consulting. He oversees the business development, operations and financial performance of the building consulting practice. A registered Professional Engineer for more than 30 years, Hall’s experience covers design, operations and maintenance, commissioning and consulting. His background includes large commercial and industrial facility design, construction and commissioning, commercial and industrial facility operations and maintenance, commercial and industrial HVAC operations and maintenance and management of a large civil and land development consulting practice. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a master’s degree in Environmental Engineering. Hall worked most recently for Georgia-based Jordan, Jones & Goulding, where he specialized in land development. Prior to that, he worked for the Saudi Arabian petroleum company Saudi Aramco, focusing on engineering and operations. Hall is an active member of the Atlanta Chapter of the Urban Land Institute and the National Society of Professional Engineers. |

Stephany Mason, PhD and LEED AP Technical Director
Stephany Mason serves as Technical Director for AQS. Stephany is responsible for the development and documentation of new techniques and research methodologies related to product emissions and indoor air quality. Stephany’s product emissions and indoor air quality experience includes testing for the GREENGUARD Certification programs, CHPS, Germany’s Blue Angel program and BIFMA methodologies, among others. In her role as Technical Director, Stephany is also responsible for specialized product emissions testing, research and interpretation, as well as risk assessments related to product use. She also has extensive experience authoring published papers and delivering presentations on product emissions and indoor air quality. Stephany holds memberships with ASTM, AWMA, ASHRAE, ACS and ISIAQ, and she has participated in developing numerous standards and regulations, including those chaired by ASTM, BIFMA, CHPS, USGBC and California 01350. Stephany holds a doctorate in Earth and Environmental Sciences, a master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering and a bachelor’s degree in Geology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Prior to AQS, she served as a research scientist and instructor at the Georgia Institute of Technology in the Earth and Atmospheric Sciences Department and as an analytical chemist and post-doctoral researcher in the Environmental Products Group at YSI, Inc. |

Elliott Horner, PhD, LEED AP and FAAAAI Director – Microbial Lab, and Principal Consultant
Dr. Elliott Horner serves as Director of the Air Quality Sciences ISO 17025 accredited Microbial Laboratory. He also serves as principal consultant with the company’s Building Consulting group. Elliott’s research programs have included studies of mold development on building materials under various environmental conditions, including simulated water losses and studies on microbial volatile organic compounds (MVOCs). Elliott also provides consulting and expert opinion (plaintiff and defense) for litigation support. Broadly recognized as an expert on fungal allergens, Elliott has also managed aerobiology monitoring and research programs; conducted studies of mold growth on latex paint; characterized soil and root fungi in pine seed orchards; conducted field surveys of residential indoor air; and managed assessments of microbial growth in commercial buildings, schools and hospitals. Elliott has written numerous peer-reviewed research papers and book chapters, and he has served on committees for ASTM International, the International Society of Indoor Air Quality and Climate (ISIAQ), the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI) and the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA). Elliott is a member of the American Society for Microbiology and Mycological Society of America, and he is a Fellow of the AAAAI. Elliott holds a bachelor’s degree in botany, a master’s degree in mycology (the study of fungi), and a doctorate in plant pathology. After completing his Ph.D., Elliott completed a National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded fellowship characterizing fungal allergens at Tulane University School of Medicine. Previous experience includes appointment as a research professor in the Allergy/Clinical Immunology Section of the Tulane University Medical Center. |
