Air Quality Sciences Building Consulting (AQS-BC) is widely considered the definitive
authority with regard to indoor air quality concerns in large buildings. Over the past decade,
AQS-BC has applied its IAQ expertise and analytical technologies to nearly every complex and
high profile indoor environmental consulting case in the United States. AQS-BC works with multiple parties in
these complex projects including facilities managers, building owners, corporate law firms, architects,
designers, remediation firms, and contractors and has completed work for such organizations as University
of Georgia, General Electric, Southwest Airlines, USEPA, State of Washington, Steelcase,
and Waste Management, to name a few.
As a result of conducting hundreds of building investigations, AQS-BC is often called in as a
second or third party when other organizations have been unable to identify the source of IAQ
concerns in a building or have been unable to recommend an effective solution to mitigate the problem.
AQS-BCs multi-disciplinary staff of biologists, chemists, certified industrial hygienists,
mycologists, mechanical and chemical engineers and public health professionals have the ability
to identify sources of unusual or excessive contamination and undesirable odors.
Armed with a complete arsenal of testing methods for source identification and tracking,
AQS - BCs experts sample a variety of different media and use any
one of a number of methodologies in their investigations. In addition to the more traditional
microbial testing and identification through culture and non-culture based methods,
AQSC has developed a test for microbial volatile organic compounds (MVOCs).
This new technique enables air sampling to detect mold that may be hidden within wall cavities or in ventilation systems without destructive testing. AQSBC also make
use of AQS chemical laboratory to identify a full range of VOCs and aldehydes, allergens, and VOCs in air and dust samples.
AQS-BC has the experience to respond rapidly to crises emerging from IAQ concerns and can
manage the volatile situations that may arise between building occupants and facility management.
AQS-BC deals with the complex issues of construction defect and building system failures while facilitating
communication among the parties involved. The goal is to quickly eliminate IAQ problems and develop countermeasures to prevent them from reoccurring.
