The test determines the VOCs and expected exposure levels that a finished product could emit into a space, with a focus on VOCs of concern as determined by the California Environmental Protection Agency. These include: VOCs with Chronic Reference Exposure Levels (CRELs) as specified by the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment, VOCs on the Toxic Air Contaminant Identification list, and VOCs that are listed as carcinogens and reproductive toxicants by California Proposition 65 (Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986).
For products with multiple configurations or formulations, GREENGUARD Certification can be used to show that a product meets the requirements of CA 01350, The Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) Low Emitting Material List, and numerous green building specifications.
